What Is It If Having A Brown Bruise On Thigh Which Does Not Itch, Raise And Is Persistent?

I noticed a light brown bruise-like/ spot on my thigh. Its pretty big, probably about 2 or 3 times bigger than a quarter.
It doesn't hurt, it isn't itchy, it isn't raised. I barely noticed it, but I am worried. I noticed it about two months ago, and I just ignored it because I thought it would go away. But it didn't.

Any idea what this is?

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM

I would keep a possibility of cafe-au-lait spot. Normally a bruise heals within 7-10 days and it is very unusual for a bruise to persist for 2 months without any color change.

I would advice that you see a dermatologist for a confirmatory diagnosis OR you can ask me a direct query on this forum along with a picture of the lesion at http://doctor.healthcaremagic.com/doctors/dr-kakkar/66939.

take care

Hello,

I can understand your concern for persistent brown bruise on thigh. You have not told us your age and sex so that a close diagnosis could be made.

Bruise generally do not last longer than 2-3 weeks. It takes around two weeks of time to get faded away, and it change its color from black to brown and then greenish yellow before complete disappearance. Most of the bruise fade by itself and there is no need to take any type of medication too.

I can not find any history of color change like bruise so it is unlikely to be bruise. In yourself it is almost more than two month so it is better to show it a doctor, preferably a dermatologist for the best opinion.
Take care.
