Hi,I am Dr. Radhakrishna (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My girlfriend donated her kidney 2 weeks ago. After a week she was sent home to recover but she was taken back to the hospital due to severe pain in her abdomen. SHe got operated again as they found perinotis.. what is it? Will she be okay. She got operated again and now she is in HIgh Dependency Unit from ICU...
Hi, Thanks for posting your query. I am Dr.R.K and I am pleased to assist you.
Peritoneum is the lining of the abdominal organs. Peritonitis is the inflammation of this lining which occurs commonly due to infection. This is a serious surgical condition and needs to be treated for it urgently. Since she has been operated for it already and is under medical care now, we can expect a good recovery. A course of broad spectrum antibiotics which she might be already on will hasten the recovery.
I hope that answers your question. Regards, Dr.R.K
