What Is Need To Take Proluton Depot Injection During Pregnancy?

Hello Doctor, I am 17.1 weeks pregnant and it is my first pregnancy without any abortion. from 11 weeks till now I have sever backache in my sacrum and lumbar. before pregnancy I had sometime backache in sacrum because of muscle flaccidity. Ultrasound shows cervix is long and closed (52 mm). my doctor has prescribed Proluton Depot 250mg injection just one time. I want to know what would be the reason ? DO I this injection? Is it effective?and what should I do to decrease my backache?thanks.

Proluton depot injections are progesterone hormone injections. They help with stabilizing the pregnancy since the main hormone responsible for keeping the uterus relaxed during pregnancy is progesterone. It is effective, and it should help decreasing your back pain. Although back pain is expected during pregnancy specially during last couple of weeks because of the weight of the baby. Stay in touch with your treating docotr.
