The VDRL test is done to look for a disease called syphilis. If you have a positive test you should go to your doctor and get his/her opinion. The commonest test done to confirm syphilis is either TPHA or FTA-ABS. Syphilis is a treatable connection. You should also ask your partner to also see a doctor.
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
Reactive VDRL is indicative of syphilis infection. More specific antibody based tests are needed to confirm the diagnosis. Usually the screening is done during pregnancy as this infection is associated with congenital defects in the baby. Both the partners need to be treated simultaneously to avoid the recurrence.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
