Dear Mr Munir,
delayed crying at the time of birth could result in delayed milestones. The reason being it could result in loss of
oxygen to brain during that time and also could permanently damage a part of it.The advantage of approaching a clinical
psychologist or a
psychiatrist is that they can assess the damage done and suggest suitable remedies.Sometimes the damage is irreparable and the child may remain slow learner throughout his life or what is known as mentally retarded in common parlance. In that case, he has to go to a special school which has special educators because he will not be able to cope in normal schools. The advantage of visiting a clinical psychologist is that they will do the relevant tests and assess the child. In your case, it might not be that bad but atleast you will rule out the possibility and will be able to help him at the right time.
