I would definitely keep a possibility of dandruff or seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp. Clinically it presents as scaling and itching of the scalp, itching being subjective in individuals.
If I was your treating doctor I would have asked you to use a 2% ketoconazole shampoo twice or thrice in a week, which should make it fine.
A topical steroid lotion can also be used once or twice daily, for faster relief from the scaling, itching scalp along with an antidandruff shampoo.
