Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a female that has bipolar disorder and am not sleeping at night, I sleep between 3-5 hours. My bipolar doctor has me on Amitriptyline 100mg a night, it isn't helping with my bipolar nor sleep. What do I need do about this. He doesn't listen when I tell him that I am evil. I can control the bipolar most of the time without meds, my concern is when I don't get enough sleep my mood sucks. I feel that I need sleep more than anything. It is affecting my relationship with my husband emotionally and physically, it is affecting my relationship with my children also. What can I do or what do I need to do since my doctor don't want to listen to me.
I went through your details. The given details are not enough. Not getting proper sleep has so many basic reasons. Here I assure, your reason as bi-polar disorder and related mental conditions. You should look into your daily life. For a person who do not do any physical work and has bi-polar three to five hours sleep in itself is a blessing. You should be physically active, engage in games exercises and then your body demands sleep and it automatically overpowers bi-polar induced mental conditions. Once you make such a habit, body know how to tackle sleeplessness. You could consult a psychologit for help in psychotherapy and meditation techniques suitable for you.
