I went through your details. The medicines you have been prescribed by your psychiatrist is apt, and he did prescribe after thorough consideration of all your symptoms and physical and mental condition. Substitution can be done by him rather than anybody else. You should understand, weaning off the medicine is a tricky concept unless your bi-polar is cured. Usually bi-polar disorder is treated with a combination of medicines, psychotherapy, life style changes and meditation. You are undergoing psychiatric treatment. Please consult a psychologist for the other three treatment procedures. Weight gain is more because of lack of physical activity. I suggest you to exercise rigorously to control your weight gain.

Hope this answers your query. Available for further clarifications. Good luck. Take care.
