What Is The Best Medicine For Chronic Constipation?

My doctor prescribed Linzess for chronic constipation/IBS and the cost is too much for our budget. Is there anything OTC that I could replace this with - that would give me the same benefit. What about probiotics - it doesn t look like they work like Linzess, but would I get the same result from taking them as I would with Linzess?

I begin to treat constipated patients with dietary changes first and in my practice kiwis and prunes are the best, with plenty liquids of course. Then I prescribe Lactulosis as my first choice, but I don't know about its cost in your country. Anywhere you can proove its effectiveness first and inform me again if you d'like.
