What Is The Best Prognosis And Treatment For Rectal Cancer Of Squamous Cell Carcinoma In Situ At Stage Two?

I ve been diagnosed with rectal cancer of 3.3cm squamous cell carcinoma in situ where they said it is stage 2 with no lymphnode involvement. They also said that if surgery was done a colostomy would be the result due to the tumor s position in the rectum right inside the anus below the tail bone. So they proposed 5.5 weeks of radiation with chemo at the same time the 1st week and last week of the treatment plan. Do you agree with the plan of action?

Hi,

Your history is confusing. Carcinoma in situ cannot be stage 2. If it is really in situ Ca. You need local excision followed by intracavitary brachytherapy. No need of complete resection and colostomy. You do not even need chemotherapy. To get an exact opinion, Consult an oncologist with all the details of your endoscopy, CT Pelvis and biopsy.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
