Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I take pamelor for severe back and siatic pain, 25mg. What is the best time of day to take it. The bottle says at night but it is not helping. I was switched from cynbalta because of side effects, but cymbalta seems to have worked better. The physician told me they would work the same for pain since depression is not a issue.
Hi,welcome to HCM! I understad your concern. Initially, you should take one 25 mg tablet at bedtime. Although this is a small dose, in many people low doses (25-75 mg at bedtime) are enough to control the symptoms of pain. You should take a single tablet (25 mg) each night for 1 week, one hour before bedtime, before increasing the dose. If, at this low dose, there is no change in your pain, then you should increase by one tablet at bedtime, so that you will now be taking 50 mg at bedtime. If this dose does not help in relieving you pain, then you can increase again. However, if you reach 100 mg at bedtime, further increases in the dose should be discussed with your physician. Hope my answer was helpful, thanks!
