What Is The Best Treatment To Get Pregnant?

Hi! We have been trying to conceive unsuccessfully. My lab tests and ultrasounds have been Wnl. My husband finally submitted a semen sample and has a high semen viscosity. His sperm count and motility were good. This was a second semen sample in the same day he had to do at the hospital because the first one he did at home and it took him 75 min to get there and the lab said it was no good. Would this affect the quality? Should he go see a urologist? He is peeing normally, sex drive and ejaculate are normal. Other than drinking water and reducing his caffeine intake any other suggestions?

I would like to tell you that your husband's semen report is fine and there seems no any abnormality except hyper viscosity. Yes, semen analysis should be done within 30 minutes of collecting sample, so in your husband's case, 75 min delay sample is not appropriate for accurate analysis.

Hyper viscosity can affect the motility of sperm, but if sample is delayed to reach at the laboratory, then it can give false report of hyperviscous sample. So its better to repeat the analysis after a week or so. If the hyper viscosity remains the same, then you need to find out the cause of this, which might be altering sperm motility and in that case you will need to consult a urologist.
