What Is The Best Way To Cure Open Sore On My Shoulder?
I have a weeping open sore on my shoulder as a result of using Aldara cream.I have stopped using Aldara and have been treating the area with Betadine and covering the area with cotton gauze smeared with petroleom jelly to stop the gauze sticking to the wound. The affected area is about 75mm by40mm.What is the best way to cure this problem.
Aldara is Imiquimod cream. Imiquimod has various side effects like burning, irritation, redness and it can also sometimes disrupt the skin if it is continued inspite of the side effects.
Although you did'nt mention the indication for which it was prescribed by your doctor but for the time being it should be stopped to allow the skin regenerate back to normal.
If i was your treating doctor i would have started you on prophylactic oral antibiotics since there is a chance that the raw skin could become infected with bacteria.
An OTC antibacterial e.g 2% mupirocin can be used till the skin regenerate back to normal.
