What Is The Bloating And Cramps A Year After An Abortion?

I terminated a pregnancy at 13 weeks, in June 2013, due to the placenta getting stuck in the cervix, I lost too much blood and had to have and emergency operation.
Since this, my periods have not returned to normal, I get a swollen belly between periods which lasts weeks and it hard, I look 5 months pregnant, my partner has even got worried that I was pregnant from my swollen stomach. I have cramps nearly ever day, but my doctor thinks this is normal. Surely, a year post op, this is not normal?
any help and advice would be much appreciated.

welcome to Health care magic.
1.After a year of abortion - its not normal to have distended abdomen and irregular / absent periods.
2.In this case if you are my patient i would have examined and ask for an ultrasound pelvis to check for the status of the uterus and ovaries, and will give the probable cause of irregular periods, and definitive answer for your partner doubt about the pregnancy.
3.Recommend you to see your GP and get the needful test done and treated.
4.The distended abdomen with pains also seen in bowel pathology - need to be evaluated.
5.In future recommend protected intercourse to avoid abortions, as this kind of complications are expected in few cases.
