What Is The Bump On The Lip Filled With Pus?

Hi. I use to have a tiny bump on my lip. I didn t think it was a big deal. Then it slowly started to get bigger. There was white stuff in it. I m scared that I might have herpes. I m not sure if was a cold sore. It hurt whenever I touched it. It was hard to pop but u finally was able to. It hurted whenever I tried to pop it. When u did white stuff came out and it looked like it was going to bleed but it didn t. In a few days it started to shrink down then it dissapered. I can still see where it was. I m really scared and I hope I don t have herpes. Please help me and can you respond as soon as possible

Can understand your concern..

As per your complain a bump on the lip with white stuff in it can be due to a few cases which may or may not be herpes..

A bump on the lip can be due to bacterial infection caused due to using of infected lip products or other things for that matter causing formation of pus filled blister..

It can be due to viral infection causing cold sores (Herpes) but it is commonly in clusters but a single lesion can also be there..

It can also occur due to excessive sun exposure leading to formation of sun blister..

It can also occur due to inflammation of minor salivary gland present over the lips causing swelling as well as trauma to the the minor salivary glands can lead to formation of mucocele..

As you told that now it has disappeared so now you need not to worry and just maintain a good hygiene and do not share lip products with others..

Always apply SPF 15 containing lip balms over the lips while getting into sun..

Avoid lip biting and lip sucking habit as it can injure the salivary glands and minor blood vessels..

In case of relapse you should consult a dermatologist..
