What Is The Cause And Solution For White Spots Due To Sun Exposure?

My daughter is vacationing in Mexico and has developed some small, smooth white spots on her back near her shoulders after over exposure to sun. She says they don t itch or burn but are unsightly. Any ideas what they may be and how to treat the area?

Hello,

As per your case history, you are suffering from Polymorphic light eruption.

My treatment advice is:
1. Avoid sun exposure and use a good sunscreen lotion with SPF more than 30.
2. Apply a Tacrolimus 0.03 %ointment twice daily on affected skin.
3. Take a vitamin C supplement once daily for 3 months.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Harshit Bhachech
