What Is The Cause For Blood In The Urine?

I went to the doctors today as I thought I had a UTI. The nurse said it looked celar but then ont he dipstcik she said it showed that there was blood in the urine. She has given me a course of antibiotics aand sent the urine for testing. what could the blood be?
