What Is The Cause For Clock Ticking Sounds When On Pseudoephedrine Using A Nasal Decogestant Spray?
My ears are both stopped up due to congestion from bronchitis/cold developed on vacation. I had to fly home with this condition making my ears more stopped up. I am hearing a clock ticking sound. I am taking pseudoephedrine and using a nasal decogestant spray. What would cause the clock ticking sounds?
The reason for the clock ticking sound is air bubbling into your ear which has become filled with fluid. I personally feel that decongestant drops work much better than spray. Instill 3 drops in each nostril 3 times a day for 5 days. Always follow it up with steam inhalation.
There is a chance that your ears are infected. Please see an ENT consultant to rule out infection. Regards, Dr Rajkishori.
