What Is The Cause For Itchy Red Bumps In Forearm After Sleeping In Couch?
Hi, you see last night I fell asleep on my couch and when I woke up this morning I was perfectly fine. I went to lay down on my couch again and I had a terrible urge to itch my self specifically near my hand. When I took a look at my hand I had a bunch of red bumps all over, they are mainly on my forearm near my wrist and I don't know what it could possibly be because no one else in my family has them at all. I live with 5 people and I don't understand how I'm the only one when and when everyone else goes on the couch they are perfectly fine
Hello, Thank you for posting your query on HCM. From your history and description, i would consider it as 'insect bite dermatitis' It is pretty common and nothing to worry about as it is very easy to treat. Start a short course of oral antibiotic like azithromycin for 3 days to prevent secondary infection. Apart from that apply a cream containing betamethasone and fusidic acid twice a day over affected areas without rubbing. Add antihistaminics like hydroxyzine and tablet containing diclofenac-serratiopeptidase combination twice a day for 5 days to relieve itching, pain and discomfort. Avoid picking and scratching of lesions to prevent infection. Hope this will take care of your problems. Wish you best of health. Take care. Dr Hardik Pitroda
