What Is The Cause For Light Spotting And Period Like Cramps?

Been having period like cramps for the past few days accompanied with mucous, but no period. I thought I was going to start 2 weeks ago due to light spotting fir a day, but no period then either m thought it might be implantation bleeding but negative pregnancy test. (I took one Wednesday last week) I still nurse, but the 3 post partum cycles that I have had have been pretty consistent.

thanks for the query.

I understand that you had a light spotting for a few days along with cramping. This was two weeks ago. Pregnancy test done about 9 days prior was negative and you are breast feeding.

There are two possibilities:

Pregnancy is there and it was implantation bleeding. To rule this out, repeat the test now using first morning sample of urine. If still negative, pregnancy will be ruled out.
Irregular periods due to breast feeding: These is common. However the issue is ovulation may occur and pregnancy is always possible and difficult to rule out. So a contraceptive use is always advisable.

So get a pregnancy test done, if it is negative, chance of pregnancy are very low if there has been no sexual contact in the intervening period so do not worry.
