What Is The Cause For My Hair Fall With The Change In Water And Decrease In Hb Count When On Keraglo?

Hello, due to my job I had to shift from Bangalore to Chennai since then I have severe hair fall, its because of the very high salt content in the water because of which whenever I used to wash my hair I used to get scalp itchiness and thereafter dandruff.I consulted doctor and according to his suggestion I did Hb test it was 11,may be because I am having food in the mess my Hb is not increasing might be also I dont have good bowel movement after coming here.I have nearly lost half of my hair, whenever I comb I loose at least 70 strands and when I wash my hair it would be hanging and I would have lost nearly 300 strands.Right now I am applying Grocapix, using head and shoulders shampoo, having Keraglo Eva tablets.

First of all, I want to know the reason for my hair fall
1.Is it due to iron deficiency
2.Due to water problem.
3.Due to bowel movement

Right now I am 29 years old, I have this hair fall problem since 3 years and lost half of my hair,I want to know the reason and should I continue grocapix for my entire life what are the side effects of it?

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM

As you mentioned that you suffer from dandruff, which is a common cause of increased shedding.

I would advice that you switch to a ketoconazole based anti-dandruff shampoo twice or thrice daily for 2-4 weeks.

Besides dandruff, depleted iron stores are an important cause of hair fall in females. It is advisable to get a serum ferritin levels checked which is a more accurate measure of iron stores as compared to Hb.

Another important cause of hair fall in females is Androgenetic alopecia which is genetically programmed hair loss in a particular pattern in females (thinning of crown and vertex visible as widened part-width)

If i was your treating doctor i would have asked you to continue with keraglo eva which contains both iron as well as biotin in adequate concentrations.

I would have preferred Minoxidil 2% over grocapix as there are well controlled studies with Minoxidil in androgenetic alopecia whereas grocapix has no proven efficacy.

take care
regards
