What Is The Cause For Severe Dry Eyes With Itching And Burning When On Elavil?

I have been having severe dry eyes with itching and burning. It is so bad that it is painful. I've had it for approx 4-5 weeks and it continues to get worse. I take Elavil, but my grandmother had lupus with sjogrens syndrome. I am trying to find out if this is the elavil possibly something else. When i first started taking elavil it dried up my mouth and it still does, but my eyes are severe.

Sjogrens syndrome one aspect is dry eye. How ever management is same. You might have a heriditary link. Use a good artificial tear substitute. Since there is itching you can use anti allergic drop like cromal. Refresh tear will give better result. Close your eyes for some time and than blink. Avoid stairing at object without blinking. If the seviority increases then an OPD surgical procedure of sealing both the punctum can be undertaken.
