I have suddenly developed a lump on the top of my forearm about 2 inches by 1 inch. I have been carrying heavy bookbags on a new job that always seem to fall on that area. Could there be any connection. It hurt to the touch more the other day but now not as much. Any idea?

Pathologist and Microbiologist, Dr. S. Samanta's Response
Hi, thanks for sharing your health concerns with HCM! If I were your treating Doctor for this case of sudden forearm lump, I would come up with three possibilities, these include: 1. a bursa or ganglion due to repetitive exercise /pressure 2. The second possibility is of a benign cyst or hemangioma/hematoma 3. The last possibility is of some lipoma / neurofibroma like benign condition or some lymph node due to infection in surroundings !
Overall, it is benign and not to worry about this but you could go for FNAC test for confirmation if still worried!
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Wishing you good health.
