What Is The Cause Of Brown Spotting After Taking The Plan B Pills?

Hi, My periods are irregular, I went the whole month of December and the whole month of January without a period. In February I got my period the 8th and I was intimate the 18th without protection. He did pull out, but I know that s not always effective. I also took one of the Plan B pills, but I recently found out that only taking one was ineffective. Around the 28th of February I got a brown discharge and afterwards I started spotting day after day. It changes color everyday. One day it can be brown, another pink, and sometimes red. I am still spotting and this is day 14. I m not quite sure what s going on. I also took two pregnancy test a few days after my spotting was starting to occur, and both came out negative.

Hi,
Predicting the time of ovulation and thereby the fertile period is difficult in your case as your cycles are irregular. Hence, it is difficult to say if you were in the fertile period when you had the intercourse. Emergency contracpetion causes hormonal disturbance leading to breakthrough bleed and delayed natural periods. This is what seems to be happening in your case. I would suggest a check up by a specialist, get pregnancy excluded and go for some hormone supplementation to rectify the imbalance. Furthermore, you should also get treated for your irregular periods and start using some regular form of contraception. Hope this helps.
