Lately my right ear have been having problems. It started with some echoing and wind noises. Then it started ringing for a little bit. Now the ringing is gone, but the echoing is still there, especially to high pitch noises. Any ideas Doc? Thanks,
I understand your concern about echoing and ringing in ear, fortunately your problem of ringing is gone but echoing is still there. This echoing is indicative of eustachian tube dysfunction. Eustachian tube is a tubular connection between throat and middle ear to maintain the air pressure of middle ear to that of external ear or atmosphere. Whenever it gets blocked due to oedema or swelling (as seen during cold and sore throat), the middle ear ventillation suffers which develops negative pressure in middle ear. Due to this negative pressure ear drum gets retracted inwards and becomes less mobile and patient feels it as blocked ear with echoing of self spoken words.

What Is The Cause Of Echoing Of Sound In An Ear?
Hello Welcome in H.C.M. For treatment you should do- 1- Steam inhalation. 2- Xylometazoline nasal drops or steroidal nasal spray. Hope above measures will help you otherwise consult your ENT doctor.
