What Is The Cause Of Having Heartbeat In The Vaginal Area?

Hello,
My child is 4 yrs old and continues to complain about having a heart beat in her vaginal area. It happens frequently and then goes away, When it happens I have been with her. She is not wearing any tight clothing nor is she touching that area. What can this be? I'm very concerned.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hello,
Pulsations of some superficial arteries may be perceived by some persons from time to time. Common areas are over the lower eyelid, lips etc. This is a normal phenomenon. However, it is safe to get your daughter examined by a Gynaecologist to ensure that there are no vascular pulsatile lesions in the vaginal area. Also, meet your pediatrician to check for heart beat irregularities.
