Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic

I would keep a possibility of a fungal infection.

Fungal infection usually presents as red, scaly patches in the groins whereas herpes genitalis is usually seen as grouped erosions in the genital area, which apart from itching might also burn, pain and is also associated with burning micturation and pelvic pain.

I would advice that you see a dermatologist for a confirmatory diagnosis. An antifungal like clotrimazole twice daily for 4 weeks, would work for fungal infection whereas oral acyclovir is advisable for herpes genitalis.

An OTC antihistamine e,g cetrizine 10 mg once daily will offer symptomatic relief from itching
