What Is The Cause Of Nose Dripping?

I get really bad allergies, but this time my nose is dripping a water like substance, and it wont stop, I cleaned my nose with the nasal cleaner but it didn't help at all, I took an allegra and it doesn't seem to be working, i. Don't know what to do now, and I have no one here to help

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of nose dripping which could be due to severe upper respiratory tract infection , allergic rhinitis or blockage on nose like nasal polyp. The infection is probably a strep throat. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to start with course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. For now do warm saline rinses , take rest and take over the counter antihistamine like zyrtec twice a day . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist without any delay . Doctor may order blood test , throat swab test , CT scan or virus culture test. You should get an x ray of the chest. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics amoxicillin at least for 10 days along with mucolytic agents. Go for complete blood count and allergy test to rule out any hidden systemic pathology. You should avoid hot, sharp and spicy foods and avoid taking cold beverages.
