What Is The Cause Of Painful Red Area On The Arm?

my son has a red area on arm he thought was an ingrown hair. Not a tick bite and not fleas. I was red and also painful. He poked at it and squeezed it and eventually went down with salves. He is now finding on his legs he same type. Would you know if it would be a spider of some sort or bed bug or shingles?

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for writing to us.
From the description provided, it seems your son could be having boils or furuncle. It is basically a bacterial infection of hair follicle and adjoining skin. Usually a course of oral antibiotic like cefixime or amoxycillin, warm water compresses and application of topical antibiotic cream like fusidic acid help. Please consult a dermatologist nearby.
Hope this helped.
Take care
