What Is The Cause Of Severe Stomach Pain And Constipation In A 6 Year Old ?

I have a 6 year old girl . She has for the last couple of weeks had sever stomache pain . usually in the upper stomache. It will go away for a while then came back and it usually takes her down for the day. She does suffer from constipatio to. Has since she was a baby. I m not sure what to do. does she need to be seen by a doctor? i m lost as to what to do for her.

It is most probably due to constipation. You should first concentrate on how you will be able to manage constipation in your child. Dietary changes will help. You should give her salads with every meal. Drinking 2 litres of water will definitely help. Avoid giving her too much red meat, meat, biscuits, processed foods, and bread which are primarily responsible for constipation. Give her plenty of fruits and green leafy vegetables, so that her iron requirement is also met with and you would not require to give her iron tonic or tablets which also causes constipation in children. Dietary changes are most important in this case. Regards. Take care

Thanks for query,
It seems that this may be due to constipation,If you give some Iron tonic then stop giving for few days as Iron can produce constipation.
You can give light laxative if require.
some times in children there may be worn infection may give rise to this problem so go for stool test for ova and cyst and other bacterial infection.
After report go for the treatment.
Give her plenty of water and green vegetable soup.
