Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hi
Swelling of the lids may be due to injury to eye or any infected swelling of the eye lid causing cellulitis of the lid. In any case take him to an ophthalmologist at the earliest without waiting to avoid spreading of the edema and discomfort for the child.
Do not apply any eye drops or try home remedy. Take care.

Pathologist and Microbiologist Dr. M Agarwal's  Response
hello. Welcome to HCM.
It is very much possible that your child has had ocular trauma, and has ignored it. this is known as hyphema, depending on chamber of eye in which it is, it may resolve or absorb by itself or need intervention. Also, it is very important to rule out foreign body. In any case, better to immediately take him to a good eye centre. for immediate relief, you may apply cold compress by ice pack. Please do not place any eyedrops unless you have got complete eye-checkup.
take care.
