What Is The Cause Of Swollen Ankles With Painful Pimples On My Scalp?
I have some kind of staph infection possible mrsa on my scalp (very painful, large red pimple like things for going on ten days. This evening I noticed my ankles are very swollen, Im may be able to see my dr tomorrow and start on some kind of antibiotic. Do I need emergency care, or can this wait until tomorrow?
Hello, Thanks for the query. Folliculitis is a bacterial infections. Treatment is with antibiotics but the choice of antibiotics should be based on culture and sensitivity tests. Please meet a dermatologist and request to do culture and sensitivity test on pus obtained from the lesion for exact diagnosis. Once the exact bacteria is known, specific treatment can be given. Improper use of antibiotic can lead to resistance.
