What Is The Chronic Pigmentation On The Cuticle Of My Finger?

I m 57 yo female. The last month or so I developed a dark brown small pigmented spot on the cuticle of my finger. I thought maybe it was trauma. It hasn t changed or gone away so I started to wonder...especially could this be a melanoma?

Hi,

Periungual hyperpigmentation may be due to nutritional deficiencies, especially vitamin B12 deficiency. It is not melanoma, however consult the dermatologist for the perfect diagnosis and proper treatment.

Take vitamin B12 tablets daily for a long time.
Apply Kojic acid containing gel on the patches.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilyas Patel,
