What Is The Correct Dosage Of Prednisone For Treating Severe Poison Ivy?

I m a 120 lb 60 year old with poison ivy that is not responding to topical treatments It is on my face, arms and torso. What is the correct dosage of prednisone to treat this. I have leftover prednisone from 6 years ago that treated another ailment.

Hi,

You can use 40 mg of Prednisolone, previously higher doses were used but now lower doses are preferred. It should be used with something in your stomach. It is possible that the Prednisolone that you have would not be effective due to its age however, you may want to see your doctor and get a newer prescription.
