Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
dear doctor, iam56, male, 5feet 7 inch. taking epitril .05mg for the last seven days. for two days it worked well.but now i feel the dosage is inadequat. i never get relaxed after a sleep. during sleep i see the same images of incidents again and again repeatedly untill the sleep breaks.iam suffering from cronic fatigue and whole body pain. any harm in high dose of epitril and can i escape if addicted? how long i can continue madication .please advice.
Generally, 0.5 mg night dose for insomnia should be sufficient. However, if you feel lack of effectiveness with this dose, then it may be increased to a maximum of 1 mg under guidance of your doctor. Definitely clonazepam has a potential for addictiveness and particularly so, with higher dosage.
Therefore never increase the dose without consulting your doctor. Also, any use of this drug beyond 4 weeks should be strictly under guidance of your doctor. Withdrawal from the drug should be always in a gradual tapering manner, decreasing doses every 3-5 days till complete weaning to avoid the unpleasant withdrawal symptoms.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Satnarain Bansal, General & Family Physician
