What Is The Cough With No Wheezing And Slight Mucus?

My 20 month old son just woke up crying with a hoarse cough. We listened to his chest and heard no wheezing and gave him a breathing treatment to help with any minor inflammation. He fought the treatment and I found mucus on his face (not sure from nose or mouth) when we finished the treatment. He went swimming earlier today and my husband said he thought he took in some water a few times but he would cough slightly and go back to his normal self. He wasn t coughing at home at all until after he went to bed, could this be dry drowning?

Thanks for your question on HCM.
I don't think it is dry drowning.
In my opinion he is having upper Respiratory tract infection ( URTI ).
It is very common in children especially after exposure to cold atmosphere, bathing in cold water etc.
So probably he is getting infection mistly from swimming.
So consult your pediatrician and start treatment for URTI.
