Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had protected sex on friday night. Since then, I have been getting severe cramps. I usually have my period every month. I should also mention it was painful during intercourse. I also smelled a light fishy odor after nothing too potent. Do you know what this can be?
Hello and welcome to HCM, Abdominal cramps are most often due to contractions of the uterus. Painful cramps are also seen in association with onset of menstrual cycle. Painful sex is commonly due to very high tone of the vaginal muscles. Fishy odor discharge after having sex is suggestive of infection most probably fungal infection. I suggest you to consult your gynecologist for clinical assessment. In case there is any evidence of infection, you can take appropriate antibiotics for treatment of infection.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
