What Is The Cure For Red Scaly Patches Around Corners Of Mouth?
it seems that every year around this time, I develop a skin irritation around ether the corners of my mouth or around the sides & underneath my nose. This time it is around both corners of my mouth. One side is worse than the other. It is not bumpy, but more raised, red, scaly patches. After washing my face the scaly skin peels. At times it seems to get better, but I don't belive that it is. It came on all of a sudden, without any warning. What is this and how can I treat it? It is very embarassing.
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns...
As per your complain the symptoms seems like Angular Chelitis in which there is formation of crusty, red and inflamed areas at the corner of mouth and can be due to a number of causes like bacterial or fungal infection, Vitamin B12 and iron deficiency, saliva pooling at the corners and dry climate. At times can be due to Herpes but it will have fluid filled bumps initially..
Nothing to worry, you can apply a thick coat of Petroleum jelly over the area to keep it soft and moist.. Keep the area clean and do not let saliva accumulate in that area.. Apply antimicrobial, antifungal and steroid containing ointments either by mixing them together or getting a single preparation that is easily available with pharmacist.. Take Multivitamin supplements.. Drink plenty of water..
Hope this information helps..
