What Is The Cure For The Pain In The Knee To The Extent Of Unable To Straighten?
Hi, I had a Bike accident two years ago and since then i have suffered a little pain in my left knee every now and then, but over the last 6 months while i have been running a lot to loose weight the pain has increased manyfolds and since the past week after a cricket practise session, it is almost unbearable with excruciating pain when i bend my knee or straighten it and try to lift my leg, almost impossible to use the staircase, what could be wrong and how can it be cured?
Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello, Thanks for your query. Although it isn't possible to diagnose your condition without an examination and a few tests, your history is suggestive of osteoarthritis left knee. Often called wear-and-tear arthritis, osteoarthritis occurs when the protective cartilage on the ends of your bones wears down over time. Osteoarthritis treatments can slow the progression of the disease, relieve pain and improve joint function. I would suggest getting this evaluated by an orthopedician for detailed examination. You may get the X-ray/MRI, some blood tests and joint fluid analysis under his/her guidance to reach the accurate diagnosis.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care
