What Is The Difference Between Stamlo Beta 5/50 And Stamlo Beta M 5/25?
Could you please advise me what is the difference between Stamlo Beta 5/50 and Stamlo Beta M 5/25. What does the M stand for in this. I was having a Stamlo 5 and Losar 25 and my doctor has advised me to change this to a Stamlo Beta 5/25. However I am not getting this and what is available is Stamlo Beta 5/25 M or Stamlo Beta 5/50. Would be grateful for your advise
Hello! Stamlo beta is a combination of antihypertensive drugs. It contains amlodipine and atenolol. These drugs belong to different classes of antihypertensives, amlodipine to calcium channel bolckers and atenolol to betablockers. The first number after the name stands for amlodipine dose (5mg) and the second number for atenolol's dose. The only difference between Stamlo 5/25 and 5/50 is the dose of Atenolol, 25 mg in the former, and 50 in the last one. If you were taking stamlo 5, you were taking only amlodipine. If your doctor adviced for you to change drug is maybe because your blood pressure or heart rate, or heart walls work weren't that satisfying. If it is a new drug you should start by the lowest dose like your doctor adviced. I hope i have been of help.
