What Is The Difference Between Periods And A Miscarriage?

Hello, my name is Jade my period is meant to be due on the 25th. Today I woke up and with some stomach pains went to the toilet and seen blood down it. Later on I went to the toilet and it was only abit of blood down there I was wondering if this is a early period or a miscarriage.
