What Is The Dosage Of AMOX TR-K For Cat Bite?

My 16 month old son s pediatrician prescribed him AMOX TR-K CLV 600mg twice daily for 10 days for a cat bite on his forearm (3 punctures, and one surface scratch). It was our family cat that was provoked by him. There is no redness around the bite marks and I feel we may have taken him to see the doctor prematurely and could have avoided the antibiotics all together. He is on his third dose, do we have to continue it for 9 more days?

Cat bites can very quickly get severely infected, so no, you did not take him to the doctor prematurely and the antibiotics were a good idea. They most likely prevented infection from developing. You should continue them for at least a few more days to prevent infection. Ask your doctor about stopping them early if nothing develops, but I suggest you continue them for now. Hope this helps.
