What Is The Dosage Of Liothyronine?

Hi, My question is this I have been on levothyroxine for many years and due to some hypothyroid symptoms persisting my doctor prescribed liothyronine and he explained how to start using the liothronine, but I don t remember whether I am supposed to stop the levothyroxine I want to take my first dose in the AM. One more thing I have no remaining thyroid gland in my body. What you suggest I do in the morning? Thank you for responding to my question. My name is Leslie Jill Hayes

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Once the medicine start for the thyroid dysfunction then it hast to be taken for life, and the dose is all depends upon thyroid function test, The value of TSH matters the great, you have not mentioned the last TSH value else something specific could have been advised. it is better to continue to the lowest possible dose of thyroid medicine till you consult the physician again, or you can continue with the last dose you remembered, it is better to continued with lowest dose than to stop the medicine.
