What Is The Dosage Of Saboxone To Be Taken For Kidney Stones?

Dr. Samuel N Grief I have been taking Lortab for some time and it is only making my kidney stones worse. The only thing that has worked so far was saboxone. Hello Dr. Samuel,
I have read your question and i thank you for choosing HCM. I know you must be knowing it but let me state here that both Lortab and saboxone are opioid analgesic which are used in management of pain. Chances of addiction with the use of saboxone is lower as compared to lortab.
You have stated that your pain due to kidney stones is well controlled with saboxone but this is not the treatment of kidney stones and saboxone will only control pain. What we want is to remove the stone. If you were my patient and had walked into my clinic i would first order an Ultrasound (USG). USG would help us to know the size of kidney stone and its location. If kidney stone is less than 1 cm we can try removal of stone via urine route with the help of forced diuresis (increase the amount of urine by giving drug lasix along with normal saline). However, if stone is impacted and cannot be removed through urine it can lead to dilation of ureter (tube which connects kidney to urinary bladder) and can damage the kidney and in such case you have to see a nephrologist. You can also try Tab CYSTONE 2 tablets in the morning and 2 tablets in evening along with plenty of liquids. Cystone is a natural product for the treatment of kidney stone. For pain you can continue to use saboxone and we can reduce the dose to 4mg (take 2 tablets of 2 mg) but you must have an USG immediately to decide the management of kidney stones.
Hope this will help
Regards
