Hi,
The monitor above a patient's bed in ICU displays various observations of the patient. The EKG will show the electrical activity of the heart. The oxygen saturation shows how much oxygen is in the blood. The blood pressure is recorded. The breathing rate and how much carbon dioxide the patient is breathing out is recorded. These are the routine observations.

The monitor gives a real time trace of various patient parameters such as heart rate, blood pressure, temperature, oxygen saturation, respiratory rate and central venous pressure. It is used to monitor the patient's condition and also whether the medicines being given are having the desired effect or need their doses altered
