Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

This is due to internal bleeding due to the effect of injury, as time passes it become large, black and less painful because blood starts clotting,
so just pain management is required nothing else. This will become more black and after that start fading to normal skin color.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Jaideep Gaver,
