What Is The Long Term Solution For Constipation Of A Patient Having Epilepsy And Taking Tegretol And Topiramate?
Hi, my name is Nadine and I suffer from chronic constipation, I believe. I have epilepsy and take Tegretol and Topiramate. I eat very healthy, avoid junk food and drink lots of water. Still I have trouble passing stools and sometimes I can't go for about a week. Laxatives are a short term fix, but I need something that will really take care of my condition long-term.
HI Thank for asking to HCM I really appreciate your concern, let me tell you, the condition that you may have as you said "epilepsy" that is nothing to do with your constipation or either with the drug that you are taking, one very important factor and that is mostly responsible for constipation and that is over consciousness for defecation, so you have to be just relax, take it easily, start drinking more water even if you are not thirsty, eat fibber containing diet, have schedule for toilet and follow the time regularly you have to go for defecation even if you do not have reflexes, go in and sit there for at least 30 Minutes do not apply nay force not matter if you do not pass the stool, do not take any laxative, you can try "Isabgol" powder this is natural stool softener, stop worrying and have nice day.
