What Is The Maximum Dialation Of The Descending Aorta Before Going For A Surgery?
My husband is a fib now for 6 yrs. in this last echo his descending aorta is dialated to 4.6cm. That is new. What might me the max cm on that sort before surgery is worth the risk ? Did not know if there was a range for that aorta. He has a ct scan this month. Thanks
Hi I read your query and would like to say that your aorta is dilated. Every dilated aorta above 45 mm is a candidate for surgery (is worth the risk). However if you are afraid you can choose a second way (conservative one) a follow up every sixth month with angio CT. If the dilatation of aorta increase more than 1 cm per year than you should go to surgery. If i was your treating doctor I would probably suggest you surgery. Dr. Benard
