What Is The Meaning Of A Collapsing Sac On An Ultrasound?
I am 7weeks 2days pregnant. Noticed light spoting on sunday and by today 4th, its a slimmy red blood. I went in for a blood test and a pelvic scan. The blood test says +ve (ie I am pregnant) but the scan shows a collapsing sac.I don't quite understand what that means. Please put me through
Thanks for writing You are pregnant and gestational age is 7.2 weeks. At this gestation foetal heart rate should be there.A collapsing sac is not a favourable sign. You should take all medications and proper rest and rescanning after 6-7 days.If pregnancy is normal sac will grow and Foetal Heart will appear. If pregnancy is not viable another scan will show further reduction in sac size, non appearance of foetal heart and foetal heart will not appear. In a non viable pregnancy urinary pregnancy test become negative in few weeks.
