Hello Welcome to HCM

Most of available antidepressant may result in increase in weight. Second reason for increase in weight with anti-depressants is improvement of depressive symptoms. With improvement of depressive symptoms appetite of patient increases and this ultimately result in weight gain.

You are 57 years old and gained weight and this is the main reason of not taking medicine. Few antidepressants especially Fluoxetine, Escitalopram don't cause much weight gain. You can consult your psychiatrist to start these medicines.

Start exercising daily and have balanced food this will improve the depressive symptoms as well as help in losing weight.

Addition of Topiramate to your prescription can be other option. Topiramate is a mood stabiliser that cause decrease in appetite and help in losing weight. Consult you psychiatrist for that.

Thanks, hope this helps you
